A 25,000 volt cable crashed onto the Birmingham rail line which caused a spectacular electrical fire
The 25,000 volt cable crashed down onto a Birmingham Rail line which caused a large electrical fire. The cable crashing down was caused to a broken bracket that was carrying the overhead 25,000 volt cable. As the cable crashed down it is said that there were ‘large blue and yellow sparks.’ Then the sparks were followed with a huge fire and massive flames. The smoke from the fire billowed down the rail line and couple be seen all around. The firefighters managed to maintain the fire from spreading too far so overall the fire didn’t cause too much damage to any other lines and luckily no one was injured. That stretch of rail line will be closed until further notice, until repairs are performed.
That specific rail line was not in use around that time so luckily no one was injured. The rail service in Birmingham were suffering due to the railway strikes going on. If it weren’t for the strikes the fire could of done some major damage.
