Three pet cats die leaving owners devastated after electrical fire in Sheffield

Three pet cats have died in a flat fire which broke out in Sheffield apartment late last night

Three cats, Honey, Lena and Gizmo, were killed by smoke fumes after the kitchen caught fire at the property on Gresley Road in Sheffield, while their owners had been visiting friends.

Three crews were called out to the incident at 10:35pm last night. The crews ended up spending more than an hour at the scene dealing with the incident.

The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault, centred around a socket on the wall.

The owner said: “Things can be replaced and the flat can be repaired, but what is heartbreaking is losing the cats. I’ve had one of them for 14 years.”
