Details

A long, black mountable LED Wall Lamp.

The product presents a serious risk of electric shock as it was inadequately earthed meaning that if a fault was to occur, the product could become live and give the user an electric shock.

The size of the earth wire was too small and severely overheated and melted under resistance testing. Also, there were accessible conductive parts separated from live parts only by basic insulation. 

The product was also missing some of the required documentation and markings and does not comply with the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.

Tycolit C10F6 Floodlight Safety Notice

Details

A black, rectangular LED Floodlight with a black metal stand.

The product presents a serious risk of electric shock as it was found to be inadequately earthed, meaning that if a fault was to occur, the product could become live and give the user an electric shock. The clamping means are not adequately secured against accidental loosening and the terminal had not been tightened. The connection between the earthing terminal and earthed metal parts exceeded the 0.5 Ω limit. The conductors on the supply cord were also deemed inadequate as the cross-sectional area was found to be 0.536 mm², less than the required 1.0 mm².

Also, PVC insulated external wiring should not be used outside, however, the accompanying information indicated that the floodlight could be used outdoors. Furthermore, the instructions did not contain adequate safety information and details to ensure the correct and safe use of the product.

The product was also missing some of the required documentation and markings and does not comply with the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.

New UK Safety Alert Issued For Angle Grinder Attachments Safety Notice

Injuries.

Details

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS), the UK’s national product safety regulator, has issued a Safety Alert for an angle grinder saw attachment which could cause serious injury or even death.

This toothed saw blade attachment is not designed to be used with an angle grinder. It could result in ‘kickback’ when the blade snags or strikes an object during operation causing the tool to be suddenly forced back towards the operator.

What to do next if you have any of these?

If you believe you have an affected product stop using it immediately and contact the retailer for further advice.

We strongly recommend that anyone who discovers they have an electrical item that has been recalled should stop using it until it has been checked by the manufacturer.
