Fire started by electric cooker hood is tackled by firefighters

Three fire crews tackled a house fire which broke out in the kitchen of a home in Bolton.

Firefighters were called to Rix Street in Bolton just after 1 pm yesterday. It is understood that the fire involved an electric cooker hood.

Two breathing apparatus, one hose reel and ventilation equipment were used to extinguish the fire. Fire crews stayed at the scene for around 30 minutes after.

A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Shortly after 1 pm on Wednesday, May 3, firefighters were called out to a fire at a house on Rix Street, Bolton.”

“Three fire engines from Bolton North, Bury and Atherton fire stations attended the scene where a fire involving an electric cooker hood in the kitchen of the property had started.”

“Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel and ventilation equipment to extinguish the fire and were on the scene for 30 minutes.”
