Veme Hair Removal Device And Adapter V401 - Safety Notice

hair removal device safety notice

Risk

Electric shock

Models affected

Device model number: V401
Adapter model number: BSG048A-1204000UK

Details

White and pink plastic hair removal device with white power adapter and three-pin plug.

The product presents a high risk of electric shock as the distance between the live pins and the edge of the plug is too short. A user could access the live pin when plugging in, or unplugging, the plug from the socket, and receive an electric shock.

The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the Plugs & Sockets (Safety) Regulations 1994.

Useber LED Plug-In Night Light - Safety Notice

Risk

Fire

White plastic plug-in night light with three-pin plug, supplied in cream coloured cardboard packaging.

The product presents a serious risk of fire as the pins do not meet the dimensional requirements of the relevant standard, BS1363. This could cause resistive heating within the socket, causing it to overheat and ignite. The product requires improvements to marking, labelling and documentation.

The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the Plugs & Sockets (Safety) Regulations 1994

High Voltage String Lights, HM-E12-1(25) - Safety Notice

string light safety report

Risk

Fire.

Models affected

Black cabled string lights with light bulbs.

The product presents a high risk of fire as the plug fuse did not meet the requirements of BS1362. The length of the fuse was too small, and the diameter of the endcaps was too large. The endcaps were insecurely fixed and the fuse had not been provided with any granular filler to ensure the safe operation under fault conditions. The lights were marketed as being for outdoor use but had not been marked appropriately, with no protections from the potential ingress of water or moisture. The instructions were deemed inadequate as they did not provide sufficient information to ensure proper installation, use and maintenance. Some of the required documentation and markings were not present.

Risk

Fire.

Models affected

Model: CJ-XC001
Barcode: X0014M5V37
Amazon identifier: FBA15HLV1FJ7U000003

Details

A pink, square shaped nail dust collector with a silver grill on the top.

The product presents a high risk of fire as the pins on the plug do not meet the requirements of BS1363-1. The positioning of the pins meant that the power supply unit could not fully enter the gauge and the pins exceeded the maximum thickness. The length of the live and neutral pins are too small and the dimensions of the sleeved parts of the pins differed from the metal parts of the pins, resulting in a distinct step between the two. Inadequately sized pins can lead to overheating and arcing which could result in a fire.
Some of the required documentation and markings were not present.

The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the Plugs and Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994.

Beha-Amprobe MT204-S With Test Leads - Recall

product recall machinery tester

Risk

Electric shock.

Models affected

Model: MT204-S
Affected serial number range: 4106XXXX – 6211XXXX

Details

The product is a machinery tester supplied with a set of unshrouded test leads that does not require two-hand operation. The leads are used to interconnect the Machinery Tester to an electrical machine for (high voltage) measurement purposes.

EN 61557-14, requires two-hand operation for test equipment when used for high voltage testing as an additional level of protection against electric shock during use. As of 1 July 2018, the shrouded test leads set initially supplied for use with the Machinery Tester, which required two-hand use, was inadvertently replaced with an alternative unshrouded test leads set that did not require two-hand operation. The inclusion of unshrouded test leads resulted in the machinery tester not being compliant with EN 61577-14 and not compliant with the essential health and safety requirements.

Tool Battery Charger, BAT038 - Safety Notice

product safety report tool charger

Risk

Electric shock.

Models affected

SKU: 04-05-04-UK
eBay item number: 225904653993
eBay listing name: UK Charger for BAT038 BAT048 BAT043 BAT045 7.2V 12V 14.4V Ni-CD Ni-MH Battery

Details

A black, rectangular battery charger for various Bosch tools with a wall plug.

The product presents a high risk of electric shock as it failed the electric strength test. The insulation broke down when the 3000 V test voltage was applied between the input and the output. The flashover occurred between the capacitor and the transformer. If the product became live, the user would receive an electric shock when trying to remove the product from the charger. The instructions were considered to be inadequate as they did not contain sufficient information to ensure the correct and safe use of the equipment and some of the required documentation and markings were not present.

The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.
