The product presents a serious risk of fire as the as the plug does not meet the dimensional requirements of BS 1363. As the plug does not make a proper connection with the socket, it could overheat and cause a fire. The user could also receive an electric shock when inserting or removing the plug from the socket.
Additionally, the product’s plug contains a fuse that does not meet the requirements of BS1362. The length and diameter of the fuse were not the sizes required by the standard, and the fuse was not supplied with any granular filler to ensure safe operation of the fuse under fault conditions. Some of the required documentation and markings were not present.

The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016, or the Plugs & Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994.

An electric home-use faucet for heating water.

The product presents a serious risk of fire as the faucet’s fuse does not meet the requirements of BS1362 as it features poorly secured end caps and had no granular filler to ensure safe operation of the fuse under fault conditions. The length of the fuse and diameter of the endcaps were both less than required. Additionally, the product was identified as having an input current of 15 A, which is too large for the 13 A rated plug supplied with the appliance. The instructions were considered to be inadequate as they were not in a language easily understood in the country in which the product was supplied. Some of the required documentation and markings were not present.

Large set of black LED string lights with a wall plug.

The product presents a high risk of fire as the fuse does not meet the requirements of BS1362. The fuse did not meet the minimum length or diameter and had no granular filler to ensure safe operation of the fuse under fault conditions. The lights also present a risk of electric shock as they were marketed as being for outdoor use, but had not been marked appropriately, with no protections from the potential ingress of water or moisture. The cables on the lighting chain were lighter than required and had PVC insulation. PVC is not suitable for the long-term use outside and can deteriorate from the effects of UV radiation. The instruction and markings were deemed inadequate, which may lead to the misuse of the lighting chain. Some of the required documentation was not present.

There were no barriers to prevent a detached wire from reducing creepage distances and clearances to levels below the minimum requirement, posing a risk of electric shock to the user. There were also no instructions provided with the product and some of the required documentation and marking were not present.

The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.
