Silver Incense Burner - Safety Notice

product safety report incense

Risk

Electric shock.

Models affected

Model number: TC-049
Barcode: 6968586701237

Details

Silver incense burner with ornate patterns and red power button, with black power supply cord.

The product presents a serious risk of electric shock as accessible conductive parts are separated from live parts by only basic insulation. If the insulation were to break down, the metal surface of the burner could become live and give the user an electric shock.

Improvements are required to marking, labelling and documentation.

The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.

Risk

Fire.

Models affected

Model: HCP086-E12-25L-IN
Barcode: X001I4L59Z
Amazon identifier: FBA15HC9JM2SU000022

Details

Black string lights packaged in a brown cardboard box.

The product presents a high risk of fire as the plug fuse did not meet the requirements of BS1362. The length of the fuse was too small and the diameter of the endcaps was too large. The endcaps were insecurely fixed and the fuse had not been provided with any granular filler to ensure the safe operation under fault conditions. The lights were marketed as being for outdoor use but had not been marked appropriately and did not have protections from the potential ingress of water or moisture. The instructions were deemed inadequate as they did not provide sufficient information to ensure proper installation, use and maintenance. Some of the required documentation and markings were not present.

The product does not meet the requirements of Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016, or the Plugs and Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994.

Aovo M365 Pro E-Scooter - Safety Notice

product safety report

Risk

Electric shock.

Models affected

Brand: Aovo
Model: M365

Details

Aovo e-scooter with stand, supplied with black power supply.

The product presents a serious risk of electric shock as there was insufficient creepage and clearance distances within the transformer. The plug pins were also too close to the edge of the plug, allowing the user to access live parts when plugging in, or unplugging, the plug from the socket. The product was also insufficiently earthed, as the fuse did not feature the required ballast.

The product also requires improvements to documentation and markings.

The product does not meet the requirements of the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 or the Plugs & Sockets (Safety) Regulations 1994.

Happy Bike E-Bike Conversion - Product Recall

bike product recall

Risk

Fire/Explosion.

Models affected

Supplier: Happy Bike
Conversion installations affected: Any installations by Happy Bike since October 2022
Charger model: LW-084/200/420/002

Details

Bespoke E-Bike Conversions fitted to customer’s own bicycle. Source of the components vary. Battery assembled by Happy Bike.

The Class III battery supplied with the conversion featured a poor internal build quality. Testing identified poor quality connections, with wires soldered directly to the PCBs/components with no form of secondary fixing. The battery is likely to endure vibration and shock in its normal environment and could present the hazards of fire/explosion under certain fault conditions. The fuse in the battery housing was also not connected and therefore could not prevent damage to components under fault conditions.

The conversion also does not meet the requirements of the standard for legal use on UK roads as it had a power rating double the limit of 250W, and could reach speeds greater than the maximum unassisted speed permitted.

There were no instructions provided and some required documentation and markings were not present.
The product does not meet the requirements of the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008.

The product presents a serious risk as there are accessible metal parts separated from live parts only by basic insulation. If the insulation were to break down, the metal parts could become live and give the user an electric shock. The instructions were considered to be inadequate as they did not contain sufficient information to ensure the correct and safe use of the equipment. Some of the required documentation and markings were not present.

Cordless Leaf Blower (Storm Machine) - Safety Notice

Risk

Fire and electric shock.

Models affected

Charger model number: DW-2151200
Amazon ASIN: B0BJDHT3NX
Barcode: X001NK2TLH
Amazon identifier: FBA15GX4TKCWU000001

Details

A dark blue/turquoise and black electric leaf blower.

The product presents a high risk of fire as it has a poor internal build quality. The product had poor quality connections with wires soldered directly to the PCB, which also has no overcurrent protection. The transformer’s primary and secondary windings were found to be touching and the battery measured only 51% of its rated capacity. The plug face did not meet the dimensional requirements of BS 1363 because the distance between the neutral pin and the outside edge was found to measure below the minimum requirements, posing a risk of electric shock. The plug fuse does not meet the requirements of BS 1362 as it was identified as being a counterfeit fuse that does not contain a ballast, meaning it cannot provide the required protection under fault conditions. Some of the required documentation and markings were not present.
The product does not meet the requirements of the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 or the Plugs & Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994.
