A Staffordshire care home was evacuated after a blaze broke out. Firefighters were sent to Church Terrace Nursing Home in Cheadle after the alarms sounded at 12:00 pm on Sunday (September 8th).
Paramedics checked over one woman but there were no injuries. Now an investigation has revealed the fire was sparked by an electrical fault in one of the rooms.
A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “A fire that started inside a care home in Cheadle has been deemed accidental by firefighters.”
“Firefighters found an electrical fire inside one of the rooms after a full evacuation of the building was carried out. The fire was out when we got there. Ventilation equipment was used to clear the corridor of smoke.”
“A woman was checked over my paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service as a precaution but no-one was injured. After making sure the area was safe, crews left the scene.”
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a fire at Church Terrace Nursing Home at 12.03pm yesterday, one ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the scene.
