After further investigation into the cause of the Chesterfield house fire, authorities reveal it was likely ‘accidental due to electrical appliance fire’
Crews arrived at the fire around 1am on Sunday, August 22nd. A Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said that crews used four breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. The fire was said to have started in the conservatory with what originally was an unknown cause. After further investigation, authorities believe the fire was started accidentally due to an electrical appliance fire. This further led to fire safety reminding people of the dangers of fires.
They said to always check the right fuse is used to prevent overheating. Attempt to keep one plug per socket and to not to overload extension leads. This is an attempt to prevent further electrical fires, which is a growing problem in the UK.
