Multiple firefighters responded to 999 calls to tackle a blaze at a house in Coventry. At the fires height, crews from Binley and Canley stations were called into action to fight the flames in the Whitley area on Sunday afternoon (September 24).
The incident lasted for several hours. Fortunately no one was in the property at Tonbridge Road but the fire swept through the ground floor of the two-storey home.
Fire chiefs say that they believe that the fire started accidentally due to an electrical fault. A West Midlands Fire Service spokesperson explained: “Shortly before 3.50pm on Sunday 24 September, we responded to an incident on Tonbridge Road in the Whitley area of Coventry.”
“It is believed this fire started accidentally due to an electrical fault. Crews remained at the scene to help ventilate the property following extensive smoke-logging. We left the scene shortly after 8.45pm and revisited later that evening to check for hotspots, but none were found.”
