Investigation finds cause of Chesterfield house fire to be electrical

An investigation into a fire that caused a busy road to be closed by police has concluded. Firefighters were called to the property on Chesterfield Road in Holmewood, Chesterfield, at 3pm on Wednesday, October 25th.

All occupants were out of the property on arrival of the fire crews. Multiple pieces of firefighting equipment were used to extinguish the fire including an aerial ladder platform.

Derbyshire police attended the scene and closed the road in both directions from Park Road to A6175 Heath Road. A joint police and fire investigation into the cause of the fire has concluded the most probable cause of the fire to be accidental electrical.

The road was closed to allow the movement and operation of fire service vehicles, with locals being asked to avoid the area. Photos of the incident showed extensive damage to the roof of the domestic property.
