The product presents a serious risk of fire as it is insufficiently earthed. Under fault conditions, the fuse would not operate and provide the necessary protections, which could cause the plug to catch fire and explode. The internal construction can also allow insulation to break down, which under fault conditions can cause high voltage at the output, presenting risks of fire and electric shock.
The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the Plugs & Sockets (Safety) Regulations 1994.

A rectangular black USB charger with ten ports packaged in a white cardboard box.
The product presents a serious risk of electric shock as the insulation between the input and output circuits is poor, which may lead to elevated voltages at the output. The plug did not meet the dimensional requirements of BS1363 as the pins were only 5.7 mm from the periphery, which can allow access to live parts when plugging in, or unplugging, the plug from the socket. Additionally, the fuse in the plug does not meet the requirements of BS1362 as the length measured too small and the fuse had not been supplied with any granular filler, which is required to ensure it provides the relevant protective functions under fault conditions. The instructions were deemed inadequate and some of the required documentation/markings were not present.

The product presents a serious risk of electric shock as the as the plug does not meet the dimensional requirements of BS 1363 and is too small for a standard UK socket. The live and neutral pins were found to be less than 9.5mm from edge, which allows access to live parts. This may result in the user receiving an electric shock when removing or inserting the plug from the socket. Some of the required documentation and markings were not present.
The product does not meet the requirements of the Plugs & Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994.
