The fire broke out in a bedroom inside the terraced property on Heald Avenue in Rusholme on Wednesday afternoon (August 24). A mother and her two children (aged six and eight) lived in the home, they thankfully managed to escape unhurt.
The sister of the mum has said the wish not to be named but will have to “start from the beginning.”
When the fire alarm initially went off she presumed it was a false alarm like usual, until she went upstairs and saw smoke coming from the bedroom. She quickly escaped the building and with her boys, minutes after the house erupted into flames.
The family believes it was down to an electrical fault, but an in depth investigation by Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service is ongoing.
