Nottinghamshire fire service confirms the cause of Gotham’s village hall fire

The cause of a fire that tore through a village hall, GP surgery and library has been confirmed. Nottingham Fire Service said that the fire that ravaged Gotaham Memorial Hall last Thursday (February 16th) was accidental electrical.

A spokesperson said: “A joint fire investigation took place on Friday 17 February, and concluded that the fire at Gotham Village Hall was accidental electrical. We returned to reinspect the scene and found no further hotspots.”

As well as completely destroying the roof of the village hall, the fire affected Orchard Surgery. Patients have had to be temporarily transferred to the Kegworth branch.
