A wife shouted out for anyone to try to help save her 76 year old husband who had a lack of mobility from their burning home in Chesterfield
The woman came downstairs to see nothing wrong but the strong smell of smoke. She then walked into the corridor to spot the fire that was already ablaze. The flames were said to be waist high already and up to the front door, in a fluster she quickly grabbed her keys and ran for the back door and quickly got out of the house.
After some looking into the cause of the fire, Derbyshire fire put the fire down as an electrical fault around the American-style fridge freezer, which had then caught onto the flammable items that were said to be placed around the fridge freezer.
There seemed to be damage to the lead of the fridge freezer that was placed in a double socket. The damage was said to have likely come from the fridge freezer being pushed against the wall with the socket.
Mrs Krugler’s husband suffered from Parkinson’s disease so was not very mobile in terms of how he would escape. Mr Krugler at the time was having to walk with the assistance of his wife or a Zimmer frame. He sadly passed away before the firefighter had a chance to save him.
