Peterborough

Peterborough, a cathedral city in Cambridgeshire. Originally it was part of Northamptonshire, but it became part of Cambridgeshire from 1974. Peterborough has a history of continuous economic growth and is always able to attract investors. From 1995 to 2004, statistics show that Peterborough had become the most successful economic unitary authority in the East of England. In 2020, planning permission was granted for a new university, ARU Peterborough, which will be based on Bishop’s Road, which is only a 5 minute walk from the city centre. The university has taken in around 2000 students for its first year in 2022.

The university is set to bring more development and economic growth opportunities to the city. This comes after an already strong period prior to COVID-19. Numerous developments have either been planned or already have started to improve and add to this lovely city. Peterborough United Football Club, known as the Posh, has been the local football team since 1934. As well as football, Peterborough has teams competing in rugby, cricket, hockey, ice hockey, rowing, athletics, American Football and Australian rules football.

What is PAT testing?

PAT testing is where your electrical appliances get routinely tested for safety purposes. PAT testing makes sure that they do not pose an electric shock or electrical fire risk. It is made up of a series of smaller tests; a thorough visual inspection, earth bond and insulation resistance tests.

What kind of businesses need it?

Nearly all businesses should carry out PAT testing. The Electricity at Work Regulations say that the employer should maintain all electrical equipment to make sure it’s safe to use. They frequency that you carry out PAT testing can vary depending on the type of business & the overall risk. For example, construction sites should be tested more frequently than offices.
