Wolverhampton
Wolverhampton, a city situated 16 miles outside of Birmingham. Historically part of Staffordshire, the city grew initially as a market town which specialised in the wool trade. During the late 1800s and most of the 1900s Wolverhampton had a prolific bicycle industry. During that time period over 200 bicycle manufacturing companies were based here. The largest and most well-known of them being Viking Cycles Ltd, whose team dominated the UK racing scene. Wolverhampton is home of the Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. who are known as ‘Wolves’.
